Gail K. Schaefer

BUCKHORN POTTERY began producing fine functional and decorative pottery in 1980. Since 1988 the surface designs have been influenced by the majolica pottery traditions of the Italian Renaissance. First, the best red earthenware clay is thrown on the potter's wheel, then after a bisque firing an opaque white tin glaze is applied. Before firing again, the designs are painted on the dry tin glaze. The interplay of decoration, glaze, and porous ceramic body yields upon firing the attractive, soft colors of the pigments.

All Buckhorn Pottery is hand-painted and is either wheel thrown or hand-built. It is lead-free and safe for use in the microwave and oven. The pleasing forms and patterns have long been a favorite with my retail and wholesale clients. My reputation has been built upon supplying fine pottery that is reasonably priced and delivered when promised.
